Role Purpose: You will be tasked with working as a hands on General Operative in the construction, erection, repair and modification of precast concrete structures, on a day to day basis, in a busy manufacturing environment. Working as part of the production team in the factory, undertaking all duties as directed by their manager/supervisor. You will play a key role in production, storage, cleaning, Health & Safety, Quality and all other tasks as directed by management. This role will involve working to challenging production targets and a good work ethic is required. The role may also involve in working for extended periods of time in various weather elements in a noisy and/or dusty environment. Key Responsibilities: • Work in the production area conducting a wide variety of tasks, such as concrete pouring, patching, cleaning, mould stripping etc. Lift heavy weights, stand for 4+ hours and be able to move around the factory floor without assistance. Must be able to work for extended periods in a cold/noisy/dusty environment. • Be familiar with the daily production plan and work as part of the team to set up the production line, complete checks and ensure materials are ready to use. Perform all pre start, quality and safety checks as directed and/or required. • Ability to read/understand drawings, design plans, sketches and follow verbal instructions. • Report all breakages, damages or defaults of equipment to the BU Supervisor/Leader, ensuring all machinery is only used when it is safe to use. Record checks as and when directed. • Ensure that the quality of your work is of the highest standard and report any issues to the BU supervisor immediately. • Co-operate with all company training, asking questions and ensuring they feel satisfied in relation to all aspects of the area and role they are working in. • Reporting any accidents or near misses is expected and assistance with any investigation is a prerequisite of the Company’s safety policy. • To participate fully on any Lean Development Projects or Continuous improvement initiatives, and embrace new methods of working. • Contribute to the continued success of the Company through a positive attitude and a commitment to integrity, quality, safety, housekeeping and leadership. • Proficient in English language - Must be able to effectively communicate and work alongside all support & Business Unit functions including sales, design, production, and quality. • Other duties will be part of the role from time to time – this will be specified by your direct line Supervisor. Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s. Housekeeping – This is the responsibility of all employees and our high standards and expectations in this regard, should be adhered to at all times. Housekeeping forms part of your job role and production process and your performance will be measured against the tidiness, upkeep and general clean as you go attitude. There is a high level of expectation on all employees to foster and embrace this attitude. Health & Safety - All employees must comply with all safety policies and procedure. Manual handling is a key part of the factory and all employees must use correct lifting techniques. Health & Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Employees must act in a responsible manner following all safety regulations; safe work practices, SOP’s, and never risking one’s own safety. Employees must ensure that PPE is worn at all times and to advise anyone whom you view who may not be complying with this, to do so. Quality - All employees must meet the excellence quality standards that the Company maintains. Care must be taken in your work to ensure that the products we work with, are made to the highest quality standards and this will be measured by any non-conformances. You are required to bring any quality issues to your supervisor/leader immediately. Production Throughput - KPI’s are dependent on the area/ department you area working in. All employees are expected to be aware of the KPI’s for the area they are working in and work towards them accordingly. Skills & Experience: • Proven experience and ability to work as part of a team. • Experience working in a manufacturing facility, working with concrete, precast concrete and/or construction would be a significant advantage. • Excellent communication skills – written English & Verbal English. • Good organisation and interpersonal skills (non-verbal, listening, problem solving, decision making, assertiveness, responsibility), are required for this role. • Experience in reading and understanding design plans and measurements and ability to read & understand policies and procedures. • Any current and up to date tickets – Safepass, forklift, abrasive wheels, 360? digger driver, banksman etc. Key Competencies: • Planning & Action Orientated. • Team Player & a “Can Do” attitude. • Health & Safety conscious and aware of policies at all times. • Ability to take on instruction but also be able to work on own initiative. • Willing to learn the job and to make practical suggestions on the improvement of the job to your BU Supervisor/Supervisor. • Priority Setting. • Problem Solving.
